Big City Blues

Big City Blues was a interesting project, creating a website for a Blues Dance school. Sara Cherney, a friend I have known for a number of years, approached me with the prospect of creating the identity and website for her new school, a spin off of Big City Swing. Blues dance is a Chicago tradition, dating back to the early 20s with the influx of southern African Americans moving to Chicago’s prospective and flourishing stockade and industrial jobs. Taking inspiration from this vintage heritage, I creative a motive of Nouveau and Victorian influences, as well as whiskey labels and grit to form a distinctive logo and warm feeling website.
