After experimenting with a few small app projects with my friend Hicham, I started working with another friend and developer Ryan Ilagan on a new concept for a dating app. The app was a tool for singles to find other singles in their area that beyond met a few criteria, they also were able to have a quick video speed date with to determine if there was indeed any chemistry, without having to actually go out on a date or speed dating event.
After Ryan and I discussed the idea a bit, I started immediately sketching and wireframing the idea and what interactions would need to happen. After some rough sketches, I began building a basic prototype using my wireframes to test on friends who I knew were both single and had used dating apps in the past. I quickly got tons of great tips on what items were missing, as well as whether or not they would use an app like this to better find dates that would be enjoyable. The final product you can see below, with some fun features added, such as a conversation popup to help facilitate a good speed date.
